Though both have won awards, Beatles producer George Martin (left, in 2008 with Grammy) and “Game of Thrones” author George R.R. Martin (right, with Emmy in 2015) are not the same person.

“Game of Thrones” fans thought their favorite author’s watch was over after news of George Martin’s death broke late Tuesday.

Many reacted on social media before realizing that the American novelist shares all but two initials of his name with the “fifth Beatle” music producer, who died at age 90.

George R.R. Martin, 67, has not commented publicly on his namesake’s death, though he likely heard about it after being mentioned in a flurry of tweets.

Many people took to Twitter to express their grief at losing a musical luminary, though others expressed relief that the creator of Westeros is still alive and can continue to work on the final two books in his “A Song of Fire and Ice” fantasy series, “The Winds of Winter” and “A Dream of Spring.”

“RIP George Martin. Hopefully this serves as a warning to George R.R. Martin to finish the damn books,” user Terry Denness said.

HBO’s series “Games of Thrones” has reached the same point as Martin’s most recent novel, “A Dance with Dragons,” but season six of the show will premiere on April 24.

George Henry Martin was mourned by music lovers and countrymen including Ringo Starr, Sean Lennon and Prime Minister David Cameron on Wednesday.

Beyond the Beatles, the London native also worked with others artists including Cilla Black, Elton John and America.
